HolePark, Rolvenden

How is it that you live in an area for nigh on 50 years and still find places you’ve not visited before and ought to have done years and years ago?

Hole Park is one of these places. I’ve driven past the sign on countless occasions on the way to Wittersham Road signal box, heard fellow railwaymen talk about their wonderful visits there.

Today was its day. And what a delight. It is famed for its bluebells and rightly so. And wild garlic as you can see in extras. The tulips were just coming to an end though there were plenty of blipable specimens to capture.

The place has a very pleasant cafe and tea room. The soup was excellent although the scones and coffee let them down enormously in terms of cost and quality.

We expected rain around 3.00pm and it duly obliged making for a wet late afternoon and early evening. However, we repaired to the Old Dairy Tap House adjacent to Tenterden Town station and enjoyed a drink or two in very companionable surrounding to mark the end of a tumultuous week.

Excellent meal this evening preceded by aperitifs and further alcoholic beverages and a hot cross bun bread and butter pudding. I think there is just room for that Saturday night chocolate.
