Tuesday 26 August 2008 : Swan

A brief stop at Battery Pool this evening to give the ducks and swans a feed.

The water had a queer sheen tonight not at all sure what it is.

Ellis is out of hospital, it was his teeth combined with pink ear. Not a happy chappy, he is a lot better today and his temperature is back to normal, thanks all.
Seems no end of drama's at the moment. Hey ho.

On a training course for the next two days so my week will go quickly. Not a lot of time tonight to catch up with you all so bear with me, my friend is here who I am going to Jersey with and we are sorting out arrangements

I thought it looked like oil too. Similar colours to when you get petrol on the road when it is wet. Hope it isn't for the swans' sake. Glad Ellis has been sorted out poor wee man.

Looks oily. We had something similar on the River Soar the other week and it was from the boats that use the river. Bad news for the birds and fish. Beautiful blip.

Thanks for you comment. The picture of the dragonfly is about a 50% crop although I have some where I have got that close without the crop but not enough of the dragonfly is in focus. I don't use a tripod. I have found that if I approach the dragonfly from behind and move around it very, very slowly, I can get as close as I like unless I disturb the branch its resting on.
