A view of Airedale
Today we started the first of our Aire Valley Walks. It was cold and quite windy but it was sunny and perfectly clear.
It was a new series of walks for us and the directions weren't always very clear. eg Follow the 'grand little path' and 'bear right on a trod'!!!
Any way we made it up onto the moors (very boggy after our recent rain) and the views over Skipton to the Aire Gap were well worth the effort.
This view was taken early in our walk above the Leeds-Liverpool canal climbing up to High Bradley and eventually to The Standard. The River Aire is in the bottom and the canal follows much the same route. The village in the distance is Carleton, just south west of Skipton.
