71 degrees north!

This is the North Cape - the northern most point in Europe.

We arrived just before the sun went down, here it is about 1.30 pm.

This far north in Norway the sun disappears on the 15 th November and doesn't return until the 23rd of January. So they are very thrilled to see it rise above the horizon even for such a short period at this time of year.

The Sami people inhabit this area with their reindeer in the summer months.

The temperature was -8 degrees C.
