Eastern Olivaceous Warbler again

As the Eastern Olivaceous Warbler was still around at Fife Ness, thought it would be nice to have another visit and have the opportunity to compare my new Canon 400mm against the previous shots with the Sigma 500mm. I trust you agree that today's Eastern Olivaceous Warbler is photographically better than our previous visit and also RCB's previous visit.

The other draw at Fife Ness today was a Barred Warbler. Now we've never seen a Barred Warbler, but unlike the Olivaceous which is quite a showy bird, the Barred Warbler skulks in hedgerows and is a completely different proposition to find. Well we stood still, we wandered, we split up, we chatted to other birders but other than a group that had seen it a lot earlier in the day, nothing. Then on one of my wanders I returned to find I'd now lost Mrs L. Eventually I found her only to hear she'd found the Barred Warbler, shown it to another birder who'd confirmed it and of course now I was there it had long gone. So Mrs L heads off to find a bench to do a bit sea watching while the rest of us continue the hunt.

Eventually success, but in poor light and deep in a bush it's not good viewing. I fire off a few shots anyway (82 actually) but those that had seen it and taken photos had at best something that might have been a bird. A quick flick through mine looked like I'd fared no better. Hand held 400mm 1/60" 400ISO wasn't going to work. I'd upped the ISO on the later ones to get a faster shutter, but these actually seemed worse. Hey ho at least I'd seen the bird and Mrs L hadn't got another tick in her book that I'd missed.

Returning to find Mrs L now in the car a more careful flick through suggested that I might actually have got a couple of half decent shots. In the end I've kept five shots, three are blurred and just about recognisable, one was less blurred and more recognisable and RCB's blipped the fifth. I'll let you judge for yourself, but I'll tell you RCB's fairly chuffed.
