Overflow

It's been a busy day and I did not get out for my walk until later this afternoon which was very frustrating as the sun was shining for most of the day and I kept thinking about the lost blip opportunities!

Eventually I returned home to the two patient dogs, changed into walking gear and decided to give them a good walk up at the Loch Turret reservoir so that I could see how the water levels were progressing. The sun was still shining and I hadn't reckoned on it being so windy as I had half thought that I might be able to capture a good reflection to mark my 100th blip birthday. Not a bit of it!

The minute I stepped out of the car the wind hit me. Unfortunately I only had one hat with me - I needed at least double layers over my ears - but at least my gloves were warm as were my lined waterproof trousers. The light was fading and there was definitely no time to return home for more ear coverings. So, undaunted I let the dogs escape and made my way up to the reservoir and could hear the water splashing against the retaining wall long before I was able to see it. I took a couple of photos then was aware of some activity behind me. Looking round I saw three young golden retrievers cavorting with each other and one spaniel looking on. I think Cara thought it was her birthday, instead of my blip one, as the other two gorgeous dogs were both young males. They continued to have some wonderful exercise together until the owners arrived and took their two dogs on further.

Continuing along the retaining wall I reached the overflow which was still very active. However, unlike the other day when it was pouring over in a continuous rush, today it was falling over the lip as the waves came and went, resulting in a delightful lacy pattern of water as it escaped. Apologies that there is no blue sky in this blip to highlight the snow topped hills at the head of the loch but it had long since vanished and been replaced by the traditional grey.

We continued up the side of the loch for a while until my ears were aching with the cold and my fingers were becoming numb every time I took them out of the glove to take a picture. Suffice to say that Bruce and Cara had a wonderful breezy romp and I returned to the car with red cheeks and blue ears!

I am now thawed out thanks to a warm cuppa and would just like to say how much I have enjoyed my 100 day foray into the blipworld. When I started this journal I never realised quite how much I would enjoy it nor how many new friends I would find. Every day I look forward to reading other people's journals from both the UK and across the world and have already learned so much from my fellow blippers. The standard of photography is awesome but I am pleased at how challenging I am finding that aspect so hope to improve in future, though I think I will still retain my trusty camera for a long while yet. As for the regular comments - words cannot say how much they mean to me - so, thank you.
