Shaggy Birch

I have passed this tree (planted two years ago according to a neighbor) dozens of times walking downtown--but I perceived it literally for the first time today, and blipped it immediately. (The sun was under a cloud--much better than than the sunny view I shot walking back.)

As a dedicated blipfoto person, I like to think that I generally notice good opportunities--clearly not necessarily so, but better eventually than never :-)

We are awaiting the storm called Irene--we'll start feeling her effect tomorrow evening, and she'll hit with full force Sunday afternoon--6-10 inches of rain is likely (15-25 cm) and winds of up to 60 mph (100 kph).
