View from Mount Tallac

We drove up to Lake Tahoe last night after work, and this morning we headed out to the Mount Tallac trail, a 5 mile hile with a 3000ft climb to the peak (the trail starts at about 6,800m down by the lake).

I got up about 2 miles in to this spectacular view, but the trail was getting pretty wet and there were some large snowfields ahead. I just had walking shoes on, so I wasn't really suitably equipped and turned back. This was no big deal as we knew when we set out I wouldn't go past the snow line. My friend continued all the way to the top!

Since I was on my own on the way down I had plenty of time to take photos, and I thought that in addition to a few panoramas I'd try to get one of myself to blip...

Right, time for a beer now I think!
