Gathering

Today's Music Group session was in Ballsbridge/Merrion. The Merrion Inn is just across the road from the host's place, so we went across afterwards for the usual confab. Niall, one of the guys who hosts our Grand Prix lunches lives nearby also, so he joined the music crowd, as did Carl, who fancied getting out of the house for a bit.

The Merrion Inn has a long-established tradition as a place frequented by rugby followers, so today's match between Ireland and New Zealand was bound to attract a crowd. It can all be a bit much when all the TVs are on and the sound is turned up loud, but even I got sucked in to the tension and excitement as the match proceeded. Ireland held their own fora while, but never looks impressive and finally ended up well beaten.

Carl and I went to visit the sick, seeing another one of the GP gang who recently got a second hip replacement. The convalescent home is just up the road, so we went there to cheer him up, then came back for a fabulous spread of Chinese food courtesy of Niall, who wouldn't hear of us eating anywhere else. It turned into a long night, though a hugely enjoyable one. From Niall's it was on to see what was showing in Carl's Kino ...
