Ha'penny Bridge at night
I played around some more with my new MacBook. My friend Derek dropped in to meet it (he has one himself which he's using to control his music system through a very nice Apogee DAC).
By mid afternoon I was ready to go in to town to meet Niall and go to the 25th Anniversary exhibition in Temple Bar Gallery & Studios. This used be a great spot, humming with activity and excitement, and we were expecting great things. Almost 140 artists had contributed works, all of which were unassigned apart from being either 300, 400 or 700-euro guideline price tags. Sales were to be by silent auction. My first words after a quick glance around the downstairs walls was 'Let's begin upstairs and work our way back down'. We were hugely surprised and disappointed when we realised that what we'd seen on our way in was the entire extent of the show. A huge disappointment, and there were only three or four pieces which we considered any way worth while.
The best thing about the evening was the view from the smokers' balcony on the top floor beside the bar.
