Evening treat
The usual Saturday, with today's music session in Rathgar.
A few glasses of wine followed, accompanied with TV coverage of the election count. Not surprisingly, Fianna Fáil and the Greens, who'd formed the outgoing coalition government and had led the country into the ignominious IMF/EU bailout, were doing really badly (terms like "melt-down" and "wipeout" were on the lips of all the pundits). It'll certainly be an election to go down in the history books.
Back home, I took a notion to spoil myself a bit and to go out for a bite to eat. I'm doing well with my new feed-myself regime, but I suddenly felt like a break from the kitchen. It had to be somewhere convenient to home, so I decided on Moloughney's in Clontarf. I'm really glad I did1 Evereything about the experience was top-notch, from the pleasantness of the greeting to the wonderful service and the equally wonderful food. I had wild mushrooms, ham hock and marmalade stemed pudding, all of which was quite superb. They don't do half bottles of wine, which would have been my preference, but they had no problem serving me a full bottle and allowing me to take the bottle home with whatever remained unused. I'd been underwhelmed previously, but this experience was utterly perfect.
