Admirable Admiral

Today we visited the above shrine to Korean hero Yi Soon Shin the greatest hero you've probably never heard of (unless you're a friend of mine in Korea - in which case you never stop hearing about him).
He was the only man capable of repelling repeated attacks on Korea by the Japanese in the 1500's, often against unbelievable odds.

I'd planned to write about his life in detail here but am currently beyond tired, hence the wikipedia link above, which I highly recommend you take the time to check out. As eventful and interesting lives go - he's right up there with the best of them.

My friends often laugh when i exclaim that to me he is the greatest human being to ever live, and of course one hundred different people could offer up one hundred alternative figures, each with their own exceptional reasons.
This man though is an inspiration of epic proportions, and it pains me that he's a virtual unknown outside his own country.
