Procrastination #2

I may have to do a series! <pulls face>

I have a bedroom to tidy, clothes to sort, drawers to organise, beds to make, laundry to do

So OBVIOUSLY the best thing to do is get involved in some baking, I do love Monkey bread and this time I actually wrote the recipe down, so next time I shan't have to rack my brains and fling it into the oven on a wing, with a prayer to the Deity who covers "fling it" cooks that all WILL be well!

Ds2 made the coffee, and frothed the milk...damned fine coffee!

edited to add the recipe

Monkey Bread

12 oz SR flour
4oz butter
2oz caster sugar
good shake of cinnamon
2 oz walnut/pecans/raisins as you please
1 egg
small pot sour cream/yoghurt or equiv milk

Make scone dough by rubbing butter into flour, add sugar, cinnamon and extras

Add liquid, you probably won't need all the soured cream, but make the dough a little wetter than you would normally for rolling out

Shake at least 1 tablespoon of cinnamon into 2 oz caster sugar and pull off knobs of dough roll in cinnamon sugar and put into ring mould type tin, you can throw in more raisins/walnuts and pecans if you like as you layer the cinnamon coated "scones" into the tin

In a pan melt 3oz butter with 4 oz demerara and heat until sugar is melted....more cinnamon if liked, I usually throw in the remaining sugar left over from rolling the scones in too....waste not want not!

Pour this liberally over the scones and around the tin, if it is a deep tin you might want to do this halfway through the layering and then over the top

If you cannot be bothered to make a sauce you can just melt the butter and roll the sugared scones in it and then sprinkle the demerara around and about , but making that separately is best

Bake in a hottish oven for 20 minutes or so and turn out as soon as you can or the sugar butter sauce will weld it to the tin if you let it cool!

ENJOY!!
