Stairway to Heaven
Ooof - what weather - muggy and humid so that everything feels damp and clammy, especially the children :( A frazzling morning followed by a rush into Bantry in an attempt to take a decent photo of Bantry House, which might be useable as a card. I was hoping the sun might break through but no. Still, it was looking lush! The house is wonderfully eccentric, perched above Bantry Bay. The grounds are extensive and beautifully landscaped. I was half way up the steps behind the house, known as the Stairway to Heaven, to take this image. There are a good few more to go before you reach the top, you can see the view from the top here. . The knot garden is impressive from this height and in the centre is a mad Italian fountain surrounded by a pergola of wisteria. The smell was incredible. Through the big doors is the library - the venue for candlelit concerts. The West Cork Chamber Festival is held here as is the Masters of Tradition festival.
Lisa is coming for supper tonight and w e are putting together our summer collection of cards (!!!) and attempting to be a bit businesslike and see where we are and what we're doing - it might work!
A little music to listen to - not the usual one though! Rodrigo y Gabriela were once spotted in the Tin Pub but they didn't play anything - sadly.
