Day Five: Champagne Country

Shifted down a gear today from the past two days visiting Disney. We left (two out of three) kids behind in the Gite where they could relax, play games and swim in the pool and set off for Epernay for a tour around the Mercier champagne house.

AFter the tour around the miles of chalk cellars (on an underground electric train) we headed off to the tasting area...we had opted for the full tasting of three different champagnes ('standard', Rose and vintage)...but as I was driving I could only have a partial glass of each. Nevertheless it was great and we spent quite a lot in the gift shop!


PS - Before anyone calls social services the kids we left on their own for the day were 19 and 15...quite capable of looking after themselves!
