Nemesis
Another lazy morning, before heading off into town to have lunch at a Spanish restaurant. The meal was shaping up well, until the food arrived. Two folk had burgers which, of course came in sesame sprinkled buns. Conor's sesame allergy is truly scary, so we just ask folk who have those buns to take extra care not to be flicking seeds his way. Then the rest of the food came and all was liberally sprinkled in the devilish seeds (even my sausage). So Conor's chips had to be speficially requested without sesame, which is not something I ever thought I'd have to be. Happily the hospital was just down the road if there had been any problems, but even more happily, there were none.
After much ice cream confusion, and some sneaky bill-paying by C, we headed north to the Gaillac wine festival. Basically a big park full of wooden huts with free wine for all. And attached to this a playground and funfair with (unfunny) magician for the kids. Could it be better? Yes - there was food to try too.
C is not a wine drinker, so took the lion's share of the childcare duties, while Mr B, L and I wandered about, well, drinking. Through some careful record keeping by me (and rather good memories by Mr B and L) we managed to remember which wines we wanted to go back and buy. Part-way through our friends from Castres arrived and, after a wee bit more tasting, we convoyed back to our house for dinner and, of course, the chilli-off. Mr B (unwisely) decided to join the contest between C (male, 40 and a bit) and M (female, 8 and a tiny bit). Both survived the wasabi peanut round (Mr B's peanut allergy got him a bye on that round), and were doing well in the chilli round until this red one came out. Although M withdrew, C later conceded the match to her after a severe case of chilli forehead. (Mr B and M's dad were at the time both writhing in agony after trying a piece.)
