Aaarrgghh! The Tripods have returned!
Do you remember the 80s BBC sci-fi programme 'the Tripods'? I seem to recall it was a Saturday teatime TV programme, which at the time was probably considered cutting edge with the special effects that it had. I enjoyed it and recently revisited the book of the series, it was all about these aliens who travelled in these massive tripod machines ruling over a human race which had returned to a medieval age. Teenagers were kind of ritually sacrificed every now and again, to become brain washed by having an electronic cap placed on their head. That doesn't sound all that good does it? Lol!
Anyway I was walking back from the High Street at lunchtime and came across this in a field, it's some sort of surveying equipment but reminded me of the TV series. I don't think it was a smart move to leave it lying around like that with no one around, somebody could quite easily have stolen it and its probably worth a couple of thousand pound. The reason they're surveying is that they are planning on building a Waitrose superstore on the field, which I personally don't think is a smart move. With the superstore going at the end of our drive, leaving at 5pm could be quite interesting as shoppers make their way to do their weekly or last minute shopping. I think it's also going to affect the local shops in the High Street such as the bakery and butchers; with so many local shops closing because of the presence of superstores it is important we don't lose these types of shops.
On a completely different note, its day three of being without broadband! No hope of it returning until Friday, not very happy as it means I can't work from home this week!
