Glenfinnan Monument
Scotland holiday- day 4
Our 1st full day in Scotland. We were staying in a teeny tiny static caravan near Fort William and so had lots of beautiful scenery around us.
In the morning we walked up Glen Nevis to the big waterfall at Steall and Ross amused the boys by walking across the wire bridge.
Then had a picnic at the foot of Ben Nevis with very friendly chaffinches for company.
After that we drove up to Glenfinnan to look at this view and the famous viaduct that features in the Harry Potter films. We were planning a trip on the train from Fort William to Mallaig over this bridge but just on the normal train rather than the steam train as one cost £19 and the other £100! So because we weren't going on the steam train I wanted to go up to the viaduct to watch one go over. And I was going to get a great 'postcard' shot of it to blip.
I didn't allow for good old Scottish weather. Just as we got up to a good viewpoint and the train was just about to appear the mist came in and the rain came down! So my photos are a bit rubbish. Annoyingly Cameron's attempt was better than mine but as the engine was facing backwards I decided this was better.
