All For A Good Cause

Tonight I was invited to a local charity concert by our local artist who is a very good friend of mine. The theme was Music from the Musicals. Those performing ranged from about 10 to 60 plus. All proceeds were going to a very good cause - Joshua Foundation.

Joshua was only 7 when he lost his life after suffering for 23 weeks from a very rare form of cancer. He lived life to the full until he died and couldn't undrrtstand why other children in similar situations to him couldn't do the same. After his passing Joshua Foundation was born.

Joshua Foundation is a charity created in 1998 to provide holidays and experiences for children and their families, where the child is diagnosed with terminal cancer.

The Joshua Foundation (TJF) is a Cardiff based national charity that was created in September 1998 to provide holidays and experiences for children with terminal cancer and their families where the child is aged between birth and 19. The Joshua Foundation was launched on September 27th 1998 with a 5k fun run/walk that raised over £16,000 and on January 17th, 1999, a huge party at Planet Hollywood, London, saw the first gathering of children from oncology units across the UK and was the beginning of TJF experiences.

Since the creation of the charity thousands of children and their families have been provided with holidays and experiences all around the world. Individual experiences range from family holidays to opportunities to meet favourite movie, sports and pop stars. We also pride ourselves on the provision of high quality group events which have become the specialty of The Joshua Foundation. These events involve bringing together children with cancer and their families from all across the UK for the purposes of providing them with the opportunity to mix with other families similarly affected by cancer. These range from Breakfast with Easter Bunny/Santa, London Trips, Euro Disney Breaks, Halloween Parties and Lapland Day Trips at Christmas.

Tonight we raised £1,005 - all for a good cause.
