Shafts of Autumn Gold
Full Beam (certainly worthwhile)
It really is quite hard to believe the weather we're having right now. This has felt like the warmest day we've had all year up in Yorkshire. It's been quite amazingly beautiful. I went up on the moor first thing, with a veil of mist hanging over the town. As I climbed through the cloud the temperature inversion was quite extraordinary, going from chilly to positively balmy in a matter of a few yards. It's always a little strange to be getting warmer as you get higher. I took quite a few pictures from above the mist before reluctantly having to come back down in order to get the train in to work. The mist was already burning off and just at that point of vaporisation there were the most amazing light effects. This was actually the very last shot I took. Seconds later the mist had burnt off a bit more and the effect had all but disappeared. I had a little gasp and also a laugh at the same time. This thing about always seeming to be in the right place at the right time is starting to get seriously spooky!
One of the reasons why I've been working all hours this week (and not been able to comment back much) is because I'm taking a bit of time off tomorrow and Friday, to meet up with a very good mate who now lives in New Zealand. It's a tradition that when he comes back to see his family we rendezvous somewhere in the country to have a run together. This year we're heading off to do something in Snowdonia. I also have a little cultural engagement tomorrow evening. I can't wait. It's going to be great to escape the computer for a little while.
