Time to use the 'C' word
If you can't beat 'em, join 'em, as they say. Lots of blippers have been talking about Christmas and I have been chastising them to no avail. Therefore, I thought I'd blip my Christmas related activities in October.
Every year, I co-ordinate the volunteers who put up the Christmas Lights in our market square. Every year we start at the end of the half-term week as we only do them on Sunday mornings when there is less traffic about and the shops are shut and we normally need four weeks to get everything done in time for the switch on by Father Christmas on the first Friday in December.
Every year we get people moaning that "it's a bit early for that isn't it?" without considering how else we could get the lights up for the start of December using only volunteers. That is the only way that we can afford to have the Christmas lights as getting professionals to do it would be beyond the small budget set by the town council.
So this is the poster I have designed to be posted around the town in the coming week to get some volunteers on board, especially as we have decided to reduce it to three weeks as we have done a lot of work in recent years to install permanent items that minimise the time taken.
Although this is not actually an advert but an image depicting my preparation this evening, if you are a blipper who happens to live locally, please look out for the posters and chip in with some help. Plenty of blip material in the coming weeks from this lot.
