Roots
Today BE took me back to my home town for a nostalgic tour.
My parents were married in 1954 and moved in to a brand new house. They were lucky enough to watch their first married home being built and took a series of photos recording the progress, from foundations to front garden and net curtains. It all looks very exciting in the pictures - and the road seems to have been the final thought, not the first. But I don't suppose it mattered too much as not many of the occupants would have owned a car! They certainly didn't.
Now the street is just one of the many rather uninteresting addresses of the town. But this was my first home, where I lived for about five years.
