Appetising persimmon or 'hoshigaki' in Japanese

One of my favourite fruits I discovered when I lived in South Korea, several years ago, was dried persimmon. I couldn't get enough of them.

When fully dried they have a white natural sugary coating like icing sugar - yummy.

This one's not fully dried but it's freshly imported from Japan where they're known as 'gaki' but as the season progresses they become drier and tastier and then they'll be 'hoshi-gagki'. Yep, dried persimmon.

The Chinese persimmons I've tried rarely seem to hit the spot and as for Taiwanese persimmon... I've yet to try.

Enjoy the fruits of autumn where ever you are - I know I will!
