Footballing Family Hero
Having devoted a blip to his brother a few weeks ago, today is all about my another of my talented nephews, Adam Henley, who today, at the age of 17, made his full debut as a Blackburn Rovers player in their Boxing Day Premier League fixture at Anfield. Adam had got couple of sub appearances under his belt during the past few weeks, becoming the first person born in 1994 to play in the Premier League in the process, but this first start was a major step, and a great vote of confidence in him.
Although we weren't able to be there, we followed just about every stream of text commentary, radio and TV reports that we could manage. Rovers will be delighted to come away with a point, and Adam's last second goal-line clearance made an important contribution.
7yo was lucky enough to have a Henley 39 replica shirt in his Santa sack yesterday, and this image catches him watching a clip of his cousin's goal-line clearance.
Adam has got this far through a lot of hard work and dedication, and the support of his family, and hopefully this will be just the start of a great career. Why don't you catch him on Match of the Day later, and watch out for that last second clearance?
