Removing the Turbine
Day before yesterday this Dehavilland Otter was on its way from Vancouver to Victoria when "bang" and the engine quit!
Fortunately being on floats the pilot managed to glide into Ganges harbour where the Coast Guard (see yesterday) was able to tow it to a mooring in one of our marinas.
The Pratt & Witney turbo engine has been hugely reliable in the past and powers hundreds of aircraft. It will be interesting to see what failed.
Here a handful of mechanics are taking the turbine out of the craft to transport it to the repair facility at Vancouver Airport.
