Philosophy

One of a number of decorative roundels on the side of the library at New Malden, each depicting a branch of learning. The wise old owl of philosophy stares down at the alternative healing clinic on the other side of the road. He clutches the keys of learning in his talons.

Inside, the librarian tried to fine me for late return of number 2 daughter's library books, saying it was an administration charge. When they couldn't show that they had actually done any administration, like sending a letter or making a phone call, and I reminded them that the library had actually been closed when the books were due back, the fine was waived. I knew I was going to like 2012.
