Destruction
In 1863 a Sunday School was established in a private house in Caebricks, by members of Bethesda, Swansea, and in 1866, a congregation was formed. Libanus Chapel, Cwmbwrla, Swansea, was opened in 1867, a Grade 2 listed building. A new chapel was built adjoining the old in 1906. After a decline in membership the chapel was closed in 2000.
Now fast forward to the early hours of 21 January 2012. Roads were closed and four houses were evacuated as a precaution after a blaze in the Chapel was discovered at around 4.00 a.m. At its height, 50 firefighters were at the scene which involved 10 fire appliances and the blaze took some 4 hours to contain. Now an arson investigation has begun into the cause of the fire.
What is the matter with people today that they have to go around destroying all around them - that is of course, if arson is the cause? One word - disgraceful.
