'We are what we do.'

Wings of a ...Snowdrop!

This snowdrop looks like some kind of insect or bird with its wings stretched and ready for take off!

Three beautiful things:

Morning games with the dogs - they can be so funny at times and you just can't help laughing!

Making a point of pulling into the tidal road car park and watching the tide come in, this evening. The resident pair of swans enjoying catching their supper of tidal delights! It was so still and the water creeps up silently upon you!

The dyslexic child who tells me he will be an author and I believe him - read this:

The Doodlebug
What can you see?
A landscape of proud trees and glistening rivers hurtling towards me.
The shadowed houses of grey towns prepared to be demolished,
People stumbling across cobbled streets in a race to reach the heavily armoured Anderson shelters, their only hope.
Children sobbing, with silver tears trickling down their cheeks.

What can you hear?
Children's screams echoing through the empty towns as bombs rain down from the dark and gloomy sky.
Bombs crashing down with a bang before me, as I will become next.
Shouts of horror as mothers grab their children,
Deafening bangs of gunfire and bursts of agony.

What can you feel?
Air gushing past me as I reach my final destination.

This is his first draft of his entry into a Young Writer's Competition. A poem written from the point of view of a Doodlebug in the Second World War. Absolutely brilliant!

One thing to be grateful for:
Days like today when you see the results of a lot of hard work and care.
