Beautiful Beans

A wet and gloomy day. I took advantage of a break in the rain to take some photos. There were plenty of droplet opportunities and I got a few that I liked, but I discovered these bean flowers hidden among the leaves. They are a variety of scarlet runner and have the same beans. While I love the red flowers these are a pretty alternative that I grow among the purple climbing beans.

These beans wintered over and are in their second season, but like the scarlets they are producing their first flowers of the summer now that there are just two weeks of summer left. My dwarf beans and the purple climbers have not flowered at all yet. At this rate I have despaired of getting any beans to eat this season.
