Chariots of fire on the top deck
It's a ritual some of us have been observing now for more than 30 years - going along to England rugby union internationals at Twickenham. The format is always the same - meet around lunchtime in a Richmond pub, then off to the bus that will take us to the ground. The bus is an important part of the day because we like to go up on the top deck, occupy the seats at the rear, and have a good sing song.
The singing always starts with a rousing rendition of Jerusalem, pictured here in the blip, followed by other favourites such as Wild Rover, Delilah and Sloop John B.
I remember when we were young, we'd look at the old guys on the bus with their grey hair and Barbour jackets and refer to them as the old farts. Well now we're the old farts and just as silly as we ever were.
The rugby lads are drawn from all over - Cumbria, Liverpool, Yorkshire and the south. The core of the group went to school and played rugby together in Plymouth. Naturally we want England to win, but it doesn't really matter who wins or who loses - the banter is always the same and the atmosphere always friendly.
