Atop Mt. Strawberry Before the Tragic Incident
It was a busy Saturday morning for the little green crittergators, as I have come to call them. They gazed into a glass paperweight filled with spring flowers, played a version of Twister (right foot green! left foot blue!) atop a tiny Rubik's cube, and investigated some fossil rocks.
In a fit of musical exploration, they also tried to figure out if by one critter running fast and the other holding its tail down to the groove they might make a 45 rpm record play. Alas, it was not as simple as it seemed to make beautiful music together.
But then - oh, then! - the huge, juicy, red strawberries called to them. It was so tempting, so joyful, to perch atop the huge strawberries. But you know how it goes with a slippery slope. One minute you are standing, the next you are sliding, sliding. And then - suddenly - sprawling!
This critter took an unfortunate tumble and you might say it lost its head. (Let me interject here: What species they are, I do not know. I might be tempted to say "he," but whether their species has genders is also a mystery. The critters value their privacy and so these are questions I dare not ask, dear viewer.)
Fortunately a surgeon was on call, and with super glue, all was made right in short order. This particular critter spent the night wrapped in a pastel blanket with sheep designs on it, resting and recuperating in the Head Splort Recovery Ward. And as you know, there are such lovely views of the famous Princess Mu Meadow from the recovery ward: gentle, soothing, sights. Balm and healing for any wounded body, or heart, or soul.
Oh, but it was all worth it for that one magic moment balanced atop Mt. Strawberry!
