Teignmouth
Friday 16th March 2012
We travelled to our Chalet in Shaldon, South Devon yesterday afternoon. It's the official start of the season so we tend to go down on this weekend each year to open up, check for leaks, blown off roofs, other disasters etc. none of which we found this time (or previous times come to that).
What we really wanted to see was the new kitchen we'd had fitted during the off season. It was everything we'd hoped for and has really smartened up the kitchen. This morning was taken up with jobs, so it was after lunch we ventured down into Teignmouth across the estuary.
Surprisingly there were quite a few people around even though the weather was cold, windy and threatening. We sat on the front eating granary rolls and watched the seagulls. The photo is the entrance to the pier, not as grand as Clevedon pier, see previous picture, but quite traditional. In the background is the Ness. A mound of land in Shaldon at the bottom of which nestles the excellent Ness Pub & Restaurant, see - The Ness one of our favourite haunts for morning coffee.
