In Production
I share my life with a wonderful writer and inspiring artist. Today she was wrapping a gift-one of her framed mixed-media pieces for a wedding we are attending this weekend. This was not a simple endeavor for her; it was a painstaking creative assembly. She made a special print for the wrapping paper, arranged ribbons, and pressed tulip petals that she painted as the package's centerpiece. The results? The present is so lovely, so unique, that the recipient will be put into a quandary on whether to open the gift or just keep it wrapped. I know this because it's the predicament that our family and friends face each Christmas when receiving one of her special wrapped presents.
Every production of an artist should be the expression of an adventure of his soul. -W. Somerset Maugham
