Monkey Face!

Where a tree is felled using several cuts from a chainsaw, the stump and the first log often show interesting forms and patterns where the cuts did not precisely align.

It is rare, however, for the result to give the appearance of a face, as with this log I saw earlier today, sitting on a log pile in the grounds of Crathes Castle, near Banchory, Aberdeenshire.
