poor little thing

Zachary got two little boy guinea pigs for his birthday about 10 days ago and has loved and cared for them with lavish attention since. Not so have they to each other, they have been fighting and this little one has multiple tears in his ear and a puncture wound on his side.

Zachary is upset as apparently (and correct me if I'm wrong on this) that if a pair of guinea pigs fight from the start, then they can never be caged together. So our options are to replace one or two of them - neither of which appeals...

Our first venture into pets has produced tears already...
