Fun at The Fountain
We had a long list of errands to do today, so to fortify ourselves, we decided that our first stop would be The Fountain Bistro for lattes. I blipped the drive-up window on April 5 - now here's the front of the building. It looks quite different from its first life as a Kentucky Fried Chicken fast food place! The Fountain Bistro fits beautifully into a mixed residential/light business neighborhood about a mile from downtown.
Since we were there after the breakfast crowd and before the lunch folks arrived, I was able to take some unobstructed photos through part of the cozy dining area and into the outdoor patio. I'm eager to return for drinks and supper -- and one of the yummy desserts listed to the left of the moose head, above -- in that beautiful space!
The Fountain Bistro is conveniently located across the street from one of Phil's favorite places, the RE Store - it's the low white building with a blue awning just visible in the background here. He stops in at least once a week and loses track of time while looking through the latest additions to the salvaged and donated wood for sale. Today Phil found a lovely piece of teak, and I found a small glass-topped patio table, just what I needed to raise my strawberry jar planter off the ground and stop slugs from eating the berries.
The RE Store focuses on keeping used building materials out of the waste stream and inspiring people to reuse those materials through hands-on workshops, a brilliant Recycled Art & Design Program, and much more. It's a brilliant concept and one that we are very happy to support!
