of the riverbank. But this is not a water creature; and yes I did get this close. This is a pocket gopher of the genus Thomomys, species Bottae.
Seems to have been a long time since we walked along the Little Colorado river trail. Plenty of meadowlarks singing. Kathy saw her snake. The beaver has been busy and the plants are coming to life. I really must pay an early morning visit.
