Diana Nammi

Honored at the Women's Refugee Commission benefit.
A former Peshmerga (Kurdish guerilla fighter), now head of the Iranian and Kurdish Womens Rights Organisation, which just opened the first refuge for Middle Eastern and North African women in London, and which works against child and forced marriage, violence against women, genital mutilation, and other issues for women who speak Arabic, Farsi, Pashtu, Kurdish, Dari, and English.
Modest and incredibly gracious in person. Given the award by a beautiful young Sierre Leonean in a flowing ballgown, who held the award plaque with the stumps of her arms (her hands had been cut off and she was abandoned at the age of 12).
I'm completely out of my league.
