twins
Today has been a really great one.
Several different experiences, people, smiles and babies.
A fresh bike ride to Isubilo, followed by final prep for my mother/underweight baby questions.
Enjoyed plenty of cuddles with the underweight babies. One little boy took his first steps today to much whooping and clapping from everyone.
Then I began my short answer questions with the mothers/grandmothers. They came in one by one and at first I was worried that they might not talk to me very much, or open up, but they were amazing.
A few of the ladies were a bit embarrassed because they couldn't sign the consent form that I had to get signed but that was fine and we found other ways to get consent.
They shared their stories and explained how Isubilo had impacted their lives like I was their best friend! It was very humbling to hear them talk openly to me, and some of the stories were tragic.
Each women had a different hair style, skin tone, age, baby, chitengi and story to tell me.
These beautiful babies are twin girls Rebekah and Rodah, whose mother kindly let me hold them. She could see how excited I was to hold them and I couldn't stop grinning.....mum I have massive respect for you after holding these two for about 5 minutes.....you cant do anything else, your hands are literally full!
The mother to these twins, was my last interview, and we were just chatting. Sometimes I find they ask me for things so I knew she may ask for something. All she asked for was 1pin (about 10p) for a candle for her house. Not any fancy clothes for her children, or food, or shoes, but a candle.
That humbled me a lot.
