York

Izzy needed a lift back to university, today, with all her stuff so, as we're in Newcastle tomorrow, the Minx and I decided to combine the two trips. We dropped Dan and Abi off just after 4pm and then Izzy drove us east, firstly along the A65, then up the A59 to Harrogate, and finally out to York.

We helped her move her stuff up into her room and then went into the city centre to meet up with the Minx's friends, John and Elaine, whom I first met at the Minx's birthday party earlier this summer. They are a really lovely couple and we had a splendid meal with them at an open air restaurant called Lucia's. It's wedged into a courtyard and surrounded by heaters so it was possible to enjoy the feeling of eating out on a summer's evening whilst it was actually late September.

After that, we moved on to a bar called Evil Eye, which had been recommended by Izzy and where we met up with her and a few of her friends. The cocktails, for which the bar is well known, did look amazing but I thought it might be safer to stick to the red wine, although perhaps I should have displayed a similar amount of common sense when it came to the number of glasses I had.
