Lia Sings
This evening we attended the summer Jazz Festival at the Muckenthaler Cultural Center in the city of Fullerton. Our friend Lia had the opportunity to sing because the Jazz Society has given her a scholarship. After singing one song, the audience applauded for an encore and the band leader invited Lia to sing another and she did.
The evening was fabulous and Lia was spectacular. Sitting next to her grandparents, mom, sister, aunts, uncles, and cousins was a meaningful bonus as well. None of us had been to the Muckenthaler before and it is described as a mini-Hollywood Bowl. Everyone comes with tablecloths, picnic dinners, beverages, and candles for the little tables. It was all quite lovely. We plan to go there again.
We've known Lia since she was knee-high to a treble clef. On Sundays she sings in the praise team at the church we attend and sometimes she leads the group. She has just completed her second year of college. She is majoring in linguistics. This evening's audience thinks she could have a future in music.
Here's the first song Lia sang this evening.
Here's the second song she did for her encore.
Good night from Southern California.
