Cutbacks: the silver lining

Or should that be the golden lining? And I assume it is cutbacks in the road maintenance budget that means the gutters along our street aren't cleared as regularly as usual, allowing more plants to grab a foothold. I don't expect it's a deliberate decision to promote biodiversity like they do in rural areas when they delay cutting the hedgerows and roadside verges. Whatever the reason, there is that little extra bit of natural colour amidst the hard greys and blacks of the road surface and the drainage ironwork. Still watching the football. Impressed by Portugal so far. More than holding their own against Spain. Although still no goals, so it may not be enough to win. We'll have to see.
UPDATE: So Spain went through on penalties, and Portugal were left to rue leaving arguably their best penalty taker to last. He's no use if he doesn't even get the chance to take one. Feel sorry for Portugal but they didn't quite do enough. Ronaldo should at least have got one of those free kicks on target.
