New Bracelet

Boom, bang, boom, thud.

That's what I heard at dawn this morning. My partner, Kathy, fell from the top of our stairs to the floor below, headfirst, down 16 hardwood steps. I shall never forget the sight of her sprawled at the bottom, for a moment fearing she was dead. As I yelled for our friends, who were staying with us this weekend, she began to move and moan. We discovered that though she was able to get up, her speech was slurred, so we immediately rushed her to the emergency room, where doctors did x-rays and cat scans. She had a head injury, neck sprain, and shoulder contusion, but no broken bones or serious concussion. We brought her home, where she is still recovering - black and blue all over. But I am eternally grateful to the angels above that she is alive and, for the most part, well.

Kathy, who loves bracelets, would have preferred to past up her latest.
