Innis & Gunn
A friends wedding this weekend so was out with the groom for a few drinks, apparently a 'gender neutral' stag event, for those who couldn't make it to the actual stag weekend away. I think we need some new terminology for the myriad of social gatherings that make up all the various events surrounding a wedding. It's all very complicated these days.
We went to the Innis & Gunn pop-up bar at 32 Potterrow. It's a nice little bar that sells many different types of I&G, in bottles and in draughts. It's around for 3 months apparently during the Fringe. When a place is described as a pop-up, that instantly means it must be trendy.
If you haven't had Innis & Gunn, you should. It's based in Edinburgh and apparently its beer has gone on to be the most popular British bottled beer sold in Canada, and second most popular in Sweden. FACT. (According to wikipedia).
It's a fun kind of pretentious, with its various hints of vanilla, rum-cask, whiskey-barrel flavours. But at £5.95 for a bottle you'd expect that.
Most likely to say:
Are you getting that bass note of toffee coming through?
Least likely to say:
Next round is on me.
