Silver Medal!

Oliver and Thomas ran the hilly 5 mile running race at Shaves Cross in Marshwood Vale and this is Oliver crossing the finish line. Despite it being the first time Thomas has run over 3 miles, he beat Oliver by about a minute.
This was only ever a race with Gold and Silver positions - no one else mattered - and Oliver took the silver. If the image of Thomas was as sharp as this you would have seen a very different picture!

I love the figures in the top left of the shot with their clipboards, recording the runners numbers and times. This is a real cross country running event with no modern timers, etc. There's also a great little country fair and barbecue that is going on - a great event that is becoming a rarity these days.
