Rotton to the core

This tree reminded me of the sad news I had from my village in France where I learnt that they have cut down the beautiful avenue of trees at the entrance to the commune.  True the roots were buckling the road surface a little and one or two of the trees were diseased and the road was a little narrow but we had managed for over a hundred years with those conditions.  I believe it was a health and safety edict from on high.  The village will look less attractive but I suppose we must adapt to change.
