Hands Off Our Title ...
It's back ... the rugby season is back! Okay it started last week, but Ponty were away to Cross Keys (which we won convincingly - avenging their Cup Final win over us in May).
It's a big season for us this year as defending champions. We are now the team to beat all season, which adds a new pressure.
Pontypridd were home to Bedwas, which on paper should have been a fairly comfortable win, and that looked on the cards with Ponty racing to a 15-5 lead early doors, but as half time approached Bedwas run in a try, which was converted, and a penalty to make it 15-15 going into half time injury time. The made the fatal mistake of switching off from the kick off, and Ponty scored a try, and then compounded Bedwas woes by scoring another almost immediately. The dressing room talk must have changed in those mad two minutes.
The second half was one way traffic, with Ponty running in a number tries, including this one from Lewis Williams with a brilliant hand off. Bedwas had a couple of pretty nifty players, their full back and their winger who came on caught the eye. Both had an excellent turn of pace and a good step off either foot.
All in all a throughly enjoyable game which Ponty run out comfortable winners 55-27.
As an aside, do you remember the Hedgehog Rescue blip of the 18th of July well I've been at it again today. We have a baby hedgehog in the kitchen at the moment who seems to have got separated from it's parent with which it was feeding last night. It's been fed an watered and has slept the afternoon away. I am going to try and reunite it with its parent later, and if that don't work, it will be another mercy dash over the next couple of days!
Here's a bit of video footage of him.
