Crocosmia

When I went away two weeks ago, the crocosmia was showing no signs of buds, let alone flowering. Crocosmia in friends' gardens down South had been blooming since early August so I'd given up hope of getting any flowers this year. When I got back on Monday this riot of Autumn colour greeted me.

When we moved in, the whole garden had been obliterated by weed-killer, and it is sights like this that reassure me that P and I are slowly bringing life back into our little corner of the planet. The desert shall surely bloom again.
