Focus

Or not. This is a bit of a dubious shot; I didn't show it to our tutor because I didn't think he'd approve! We were supposed to be framing a photo through the central arch of the bridge at Nérac, using the rule of thirds to create a harmonious composition. I dutifully did this but I found the result a bit boring. I couldn't help glancing aside repeatedly at this lichen-covered rock in the water, so while he wasn't looking I snuck over and took a photo of it. If I'd had more time I could have composed it better, but I like the idea, and the way the colours of the plant are reflected in the bridge. I will consider my wrist slapped :)

In the morning, we went to the market at Lavardac and practised taking candid shots of people using long lenses and spot metering. It was a brilliant exercise, really helping us to understand how to create good portraits. But I couldn't blip any of those. After that we walked around taking photos of random items in the market. I spent about five minutes trying to take a correctly exposed photo of a box of shiny coloured keyrings, much to the stallholder's annoyance. "What are you doing?" he cried eventually. "For all I know you might post those photos on the Internet, and then where would we be?" I couldn't see the harm, but I did manage to calm him down and assured him I wouldn't put them on the Internet for all to see. But I didn't like the photos much in the end anyway, even the correctly exposed ones.

My spare blip is some garlic. I like the colours and texture, but I think I should have gone for a deeper focus; if the edges were less blurred it would be my blip for today.
