What Did You Order?

Thai food worth waiting for....
It's a new place in town, in a little tiny, very successful location. Over run with customers out to dine on a Friday night, they had a great deal of difficulty keeping track of who ordered what. We waited...and waited, sharing a bit of conversation here and there, chatting with those at the next table who also waited, while two young ladies moved quickly among the tables, and a third went from table to table asking people what they ordered.

When they asked us, I hadn't heard them ask anyone else yet, so I thought they had just forgotten to write our table number on the ticket. Soon, I looked around and saw table after table with people, just like us, waiting, while a sweet little lady approached them asking, "what did you order?"

Have you ever ordered Thai food? There was no way I was going to remember the name of what I ordered! No way! I also am unable to retain the number of a dish, so I guessed, 32, and Mr. Contraptioneer affirmed my guess was right. Over an hour passed, people began getting their food, and we were next! A giggling waitress (literally, giggling!) brought his dish to him and asked Mr. Contraptioneer if he ordered Curry. He said, "yes, red curry, with chicken". So, she sets it down and says, "hmmmm, let's see", as she takes a spoon and stirs it around looking for chicken! By this time, I'm laughing hysterically, but I just have to pull out my camera. Dim lighting and laughter do not make for a quality photo, but they are the perfect memory for a really fun date!

I have to say the food was fantastic and WELL worth the wait!! As we left the restaurant, we walked around the corner where a couple of men stood outside the back door talking. They obviously worked there and thanked us for coming, saying that it was slow tonight, 'very busy'. We agreed, but told them it was wonderful. We shared with them that the servers seemed to have gotten confused about the orders. I asked him if there was something different about tonight. Laughing, he said, "no, they're always confused" and we laughed with them and joyfully got in the car. What fun!
